West End
Youth Rugby is committed to developing the game of rugby in the local
community and has long established links with primary and secondary schools
in the West End area. Events that have been held in the past include roadshows,
festivals and tournaments.
Subject to availablity of coaching staff, we may also be able to assist with developing rugby in your school. We also work closely with Newcastle Falcons in the delivery of their community programme.

West End Youth Rugby caters for girls only up to the Under 12 (school year 7) age group (i.e. where the RFU's continuum allows mixed teams. At Under 13 and older, mixed can still play tag rugby but girls and boys are not allowed to play full contact rugby together. The development of the girls' game is the responsibility of the Rugby Football Union for Women (RFUW). West End RFC supports the work of the Gateshead District Girls Rugby group which delivers its own school programme throughout Gateshead District: for more information please contact our Women's Rugby Co-ordinator .
West End RFC takes an active role in the Gateshead Rugby Union Development Group (GRUDG). The Development Group is open to individuals from schools and clubs in the Gateshead borough with an interest in Rugby Union and serves to manage collectively the resources available in the area in order to promote playing the game and to assist teachers in delivering their educational objectives. In addition West End RFC makes its facilities available to our local Rugby Development Officers for the delivery of various community initiatives. The RDOs are backed by the resources of the RFU and the RFUW and can provide assistance and information to help with the development of rugby throughout the region.
